I believe in a workforce that everything is not going to be fair. However, I am willing to work hard and adapt to changes. I strongly believe in the Four Agreements which are; Always do your best, be impeccable with your word, don't take everything personal, and don't make assumptions.
Working for the City of Fruita was an amazing experience for me. I was able to help many different departments. I was hired when I was 15 years old, and my first job title was a referee for youth volleyball. This was a fun first job. I was able to talk to fun coaches and help little girls and boys learn the rules of a sport. My next position was working at a drop-in day care that was located in our local recreation center. This was a nice job to have because I was able to connect with families, see kids grow, and become their unique selves. I also worked a few festivals for our town, our main one being the Mike the Headless Chicken Festival. Here, I mostly emptied trash cans and answered questions that the public may ask. Over the summers I would work at a summer camp called Dinomites. The first year, I was a camp aide, and this recent summer, I was a camp lead. Being a camp lead, I was able to administer medication to children and help them with other medical issues. Being a lead, I was also able to connect with children. I was able to create activities that each child would enjoy and find engaging. Being a lead had more responsibilities, however, that didn't make me more important than my other coworkers. We all contributed equally.
Working for Wax-It was a learning experience for me. It taught me to be quick with my work, but also to do a good job. My tasks working as a receptionist at a waxing salon were to check people in and out, clean rooms and restock rooms, and help people feel comfortable. Being a new employee when there was only one waxer was a struggle, but I learned that asking clarifying questions will make it easier and less stressful.
