As a coach at Orangetheory I am responsible for leading 60 minute group fitness classes based in heart rate science. These classes typically consist of treadmill work, rowing, and weightlifting. Throughout my practicum experience at the University of Wisconsin, I completed an internship in a cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation clinic, working closely with clinical exercise physiologists. In this role, I learned about the field of exercise physiology and cardiac rehabilitation programs by working with patients after a major cardiac event. Some of my responsibilities included taking manual blood pressures, reading EKGs, providing patient education, and exercise prescription and assistance.
This internship was a wonderful opportunity that has served as an introduction into the world of professional sports.
