Summary
Currently, I work as a part-time 5th and 6th grade teacher at Bridgedale Academy in Woodridge, Illinois. In addition to teaching, I also tutor and run the social media accounts for the school. This position has strengthened my ability to effectively communicate and work with others towards a common goal. It has also helped me strengthen my ability to motivate and help others think about their success in an obtainable way.
I worked at Van Der Velde Mode Collectief from May of 2021 until March 2024, when the owners closed the doors. I started off as the Manager of Operations but accumulated other positions along the way. I was also the Manager of Operations, a Bridal Consultant, the Trunk Show Coordinator and the Marketing Director / Social Media Manager. I cherished the opportunity I had to learn so many different aspects of a business. With learning those different aspects, I have gained and strengthened so many valuable skills, such as communication, organization, critical thinking and problem solving.

- At Bridgedale Academy, I create lesson plans that will engage my students and deliver them in a way that is effective for them.
- I assess how I taught a lesson and reflect on if the students have any further needs, and how I can help.
- I effectively communicate with my students, their parents and my coworkers so we are on the same page about expectations in the classroom. This helps build trust and reliability between all of us.
- As problems arise, I am able to work with the involved parties and help them come to a solution they are both satisfied with.
- When students need extra support, I am readily available and willing to help them in any ways I can!
- After teaching my two math classes, I make myself available for after school tutoring at least twice a week.
Marketing Director / Social Media Manager

- Last April, I began managing our social media accounts and performing other marketing tasks.
- I would create and post content for our social media platforms, such as Vimeo, FaceBook, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest.
- I would connect with our followers and answer any questions they may have and respond to comments.
- This was also a great way to get in touch with our real brides! They would share their wedding photos and their dress buying experience, which we would share on our socials if they were okay with it.
- I would also promote our trunk shows and create content with the hosting salons to boost interest.
- When we would get new gowns or lingerie in, I would coordinate photoshoots and media creation days. This would give the brand new content to use on our social media platforms and website.
Trunk Show Coordinator

- I started working with our retailers to set up trunk shows, where they would host an event at their salon promoting our bestselling and newest gowns.
- I would work with my team to put together what gowns to send to certain stores.
- Then I would create spreadsheets with all the information needed to successfully run the trunk show.
- The spreadsheets had information such as style numbers, names, wholesale and retail prices, color options, customization options on them.
- I would also create look books with photos of the gowns and send those over as well.
- Once everything was planned, I would work with the team to ship out the gowns and provide tracking information, as well as return dates and labels.
Bridal Consultant

- I began working as a part time bridal consultant at Van Der Velde a couple months after I started.
- Within this position, I would reach out to the bride before their appointment and get to know about what styles they liked, what their budget was, and what they envisioned their wedding look to be.
- With that information, I would pick out gown styles and set them up in the dressing room for the bride to try on.
- Throughout the appointment, I would work with the bride to make sure they were having a fun, relaxed bridal experience.
- When a bride would purchase a dress, I would use applications such as QuickBooks to plug in the bride's information and process payment.
- When the bride's wedding date got closer, I would work with her and the seamstress to schedule fittings and make sure the dress fit perfectly before the big day.

- Within this position, I communicated with our retailers that are based in the United States and the United Kingdom.
- I received their orders and sent them detailed confirmations to make sure that everything was correct before placing the order.
- Once the confirmation was signed and returned, I would place the order(s) to our factories that are based in China.
- Along with this, I made myself readily available -via phone and email- to the retailers in case they had any questions relating to production, order status, custom gowns, and so on.
- It was important to me that they had all the information needed to sell our gowns.

Dear Ladder Method team,
My name is Emma Gricus and I am applying for the remote tutoring position at
The Ladder Method. After working as a 5th and 6th grade math teacher and
tutor for the last year, I am ready to use my experience to help more students
develop a success mindset that will help them in school and in life. Being a tutor
in addition to my current position would allow me to gain more experience and
work with students who think and learn differently than those who I currently
assist.
After graduating high school in 2020, I enrolled in Front Range Community
College and took general education courses. It was during that time when I
began working at a bridal business called Van Der Velde Mode Collectief. At this
company, I gained so many valuable business related skills, such as
communication, critical thinking and multitasking. I held many different titles,
such as Manager of Operations, Trunk Show Coordinator and Director of
Marketing. The future of the company was undecided, so I ended up getting a
substitute teaching position at a private school, Bridgedale Academy.
I quickly realized that I was exactly where I was supposed to be once I started
teaching at Bridgedale. The original plan was that I would substitute for a 5th
and 6th grade math teacher who was on maternity leave. This was only
supposed to be for a few months, but I was asked to continue teaching for the
full school year. During this past year, I have created and executed engaging
lesson plans, worked with my coworkers to determine the best methods for
effective teaching, and tutored students after school. It has been an honor being
able to teach and tutor these students! Shortly after I started teaching, I enrolled
in National Louis University where I am currently an Elementary Education
major. I love being in courses along with being a part-time teacher and tutor
because I am gaining a lot of valuable field experience.
