EXTRA RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Department Nutritionist — Create and monitor diets for the fish department
  • My goal with this was to revamp the preexisting diet for each area. This would help monitor the intake of the exhibits along with making sure individual animals are reaching their correct Kcal requirements; while not being overfed and wasting food creating water quality issues and excess waste.
  • Target Training — Created an in depth target training program for the Stegostoma tigrinum(formerly Stegostoma fasciatum)
  • This project was the beginning of a long road to the goal of becoming a part of the StAR Project. More importantly the bigger picture goal was to become better aquarists for this SSP. The project included creating a new target and target area, leading into med pools. Once this was accomplished we would be able to handle and flip the sharks for more in depth physicals to see if they would be good for the program but also to learn more about the species themselves to hopefully help with conservation and care efforts.

Accomplishments

HomeGoods: Voted Employee of the Quarter by fellow associates after only being with the company for 3 months. This was due to the continued willingness to help and lead while still maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.

SeaWorld: I was the first aquarist to be allowed to work in an area that was a senior and supervisor only area, Customer Favorite: Being on a team that often deals with people in crisis or that are irate, I have been able to create a lot of great relationships within the Research community where people have openly suggested asking for my help with situations.
