Summary

Fifteen years of competitive horseback riding and jumping instilled in me the physical and mental toughness required for winning-as well as the focus and strength necessary to invisibly, effortlessly direct a 1400 pound riding and jumping horse while competing on an unknown obstacle course. As an intern at an adaptive therapeutic horseback riding center, I assisted children with physical and cognitive disabilities practicing hippotherapy; where a horse's movement can be targeted to treat physical and cognitive conditions. After witnessing firsthand the benefits of experiential learning through action, a career encompassing the therapeutic crossroads between sports, therapeutic healing and psychology is very compelling to me. Currently studying psychology and criminology in Denmark, an ideal profession will bridge psychology and the growth potential in maximizing life beyond disability, disease or trauma related to PTSD.
