Who's Who Award, 2024 

(Grade 12)

• Who's Who is an annual award presented to seniors to honor their involvement and contribution to the Bowie campus. Staff members recommend the nominees of the award, then are voted upon by a committee of teachers and staff to end on a total of 24 senior honorees each year.

National Honors Society member, 2023 - 2024 

(Grade 12)

• Engaged in volunteer opportunities throughout the year and got to give back to the Bowie community through service.

Girl Scouts Silver Award, 2020 

(Grade 9)

• Completion of a 50-hour volunteer project that I planned and executed, which gave me the chance to show I am a leader who is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving my community. Here, I renovated the art room at the McBeth Recreation Center, which offers opportunities for leisure experiences and development for individuals with physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities.

Varsity Cross Country Runner, 2020 - 2023

• I was a 3-year varsity runner on the Bowie High School Cross Country team.

Varsity Track Runner, 2020 - 2023 

15 hrs/wk - 17 wks/year (Grades 9, 10, 11)

• I was a 3-year varsity runner on the Bowie High School track team.

JV Dance Team, 2021 - 2024 

7 hrs/wk - 36 wks/year (Grades 10, 11, 12)

• I joined the JV Star Dancers sophomore year due to COVID, and my leadership role on the team progressively grew throughout my duration on the team.

Silver Stars Manager, 2022 - 2024 

7 hrs/wk - 36 wks/year (Grades 11, 12)

• Being part of the dance program, I saw the help that was needed and the assistance I could bring, so I became a manager of the Silver Stars Varsity dance team so I could make a positive impact on the organization from the inside out.
• I did tasks needed done for the team like organizing, inventory, costuming, planning, moving, etc

Varsity Cross Country and Track Manager, 2023 - 2024 

15 hrs/wk - 36 wks/year (Grade 12)

• I was a leader for the team in my senior year. I helped set up practice, led younger runners, assisted in practice, collaborated with the coaches, assisted the coaches, aided the team at meets, and take on any roles that were needed of me.

Girl Scouts, 2012-2024 

1.5 hrs/wk - 15 wks/year (Grades kindergarten - 12)

• I was a Girl Scout from age 6 through my senior year. In Girl Scouts, you progress through earning badges by exploring different interests like science, the outdoors, community service, leadership skills, selling cookies, camping, and taking part in projects that allow you to give back to the community.

Student Council, 2020 - 2024

• The Student Council is made up of students who wish to make a difference and improve Bowie High School for the better. We work to beautify the campus by maintaining the school's gardens by doing yard work, running and promoting events, and being positive servant leaders for the well-being of Bowie.

Academy 4, 2023 - 2024 

2 hrs/wk - 6 wks/year (Grade 12)

• This non-profit organization provides a one-on-one mentor from the community to every 4th grader in Title One schools.
• As a mentor, I served once per month on Fridays on the school campus, becoming a stable mentor for the students and school staff to count on.
• We worked through relationship-focused involvement that positively encourages underserved youth. We walked through a leadership development curriculum where mentors teach a new leadership trait each month.

JV Dance Team Officer, 2023-2024 

8 hrs/wk - 36 wks/year (Grades 11, 12)

• Being a member of the JV dance team, I saw the improvements that I could make as a leader on the team. I got to lead the team through practices, lead and plan events, be a mentor, be responsible for the team and our actions, create a positive environment, and have a squad of 10 girls for whom I was responsible.

Student Leadership, 2023 - 2024

• A class where students learned leadership skills that will enhance your leadership abilities at school and in the community.
• We designed and created lessons to support Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) among the student body.
• Designed, organized, and completed community and school service projects.
• Served as a role model by actively and positively participating in school events.

Girls on the Run summer camp junior coach, 2021-2023 

35 hrs/wk - 2 wks/year (Grades 10, 11)

• Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization that helps young girls develop social, emotional, and physical skills. I worked as a junior coach for two summers in a row for the camp. I helped lead them in physical activities, games, and lessons. We strive to conduct the camp with GOTR’s core values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.

Key Club member, 2022 - 2024 

1.5 hrs/wk - 30 wks/year (Grades 11, 12)

• A service club where we performed acts of service in the school and surrounding communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing, and organizing food drives.

Bowie Buddies, 2023 - 2024 

1 hr/wk - 20 wks/year (Grade 12)

• An inclusive club for students in life skills. Students in Bowie Buddies pair up with a student in life skills and become their friend throughout the year. This helps them connect with students that are outside of the life skills class, which helps these students socially and emotionally.
