Girl Scouts Silver Award, 2020 

(Grade 9)

  • Completion of a 50-hour volunteer project that I planned and executed, which gave me the chance to show I am a leader who is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving my community. Here, I renovated the art room at the McBeth Recreation Center, which offers opportunities for leisure experiences and development for individuals with physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities.

  • I joined the JV Star Dancers sophomore year due to COVID, and my leadership role on the team progressively grew throughout my duration on the team.

  • I was a Girl Scout from age 6 through my senior year. In Girl Scouts, you progress through earning badges by exploring different interests like science, the outdoors, community service, leadership skills, selling cookies, camping, and taking part in projects that allow you to give back to the community.

Student Council, 2020 - 2024

  • The Student Council is made up of students who wish to make a difference and improve Bowie High School for the better. We work to beautify the campus by maintaining the school's gardens by doing yard work, running and promoting events, and being positive servant leaders for the well-being of Bowie.

Academy 4, 2023 - 2024 

2 hrs/wk - 6 wks/year (Grade 12)

  • This non-profit organization provides a one-on-one mentor from the community to every 4th grader in Title One schools.
  • As a mentor, I served once per month on Fridays on the school campus, becoming a stable mentor for the students and school staff to count on.
  • We worked through relationship-focused involvement that positively encourages underserved youth. We walked through a leadership development curriculum where mentors teach a new leadership trait each month.

JV Dance Team Officer, 2023-2024

  • Being a member of the JV dance team, I saw the improvements that I could make as a leader on the team. I got to lead the team through practices, lead and plan events, be a mentor, be responsible for the team and our actions, create a positive environment, and have a squad of 10 girls for whom I was responsible.

Volunteer Activities

Girls on the Run summer camp junior coach, 2021-2023

  • Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization that helps young girls develop social, emotional, and physical skills. I worked as a junior coach for two summers in a row for the camp. I helped lead them in physical activities, games, and lessons. We strive to conduct the camp with GOTR’s core values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.

  • A service club where we performed acts of service in the school and surrounding communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing, and organizing food drives.

  • An inclusive club for students in life skills. Students in Bowie Buddies pair up with a student in life skills and become their friend throughout the year. This helps them connect with students that are outside of the life skills class, which helps these students socially and emotionally.
