Research Experience

Undergraduate Research Study — Warren Wilson College 

  • I designed and conducted a study that quantified the swine estrus cycle using ear temperature. I coded and fabricated a wearable wireless temperature sensor that is worn on the pig's ear and implemented them on Warren Wilson College hogs.

Vaccine Pharmacokinetics in Swine — Tosh Farms, Zoetis 

  • Preliminary research on the withdrawal period of a new drug in swine. I worked under a Zoetis research representative and a vet school student. I performed and assisted with over 350 blood draws over the span of 72 hours. I also helped organize, label, store, and spin down the blood samples.

American Pika Populations —Warren Wilson College

  • An ongoing research project with the University of Colorado, that examines climate change and its effects on American Pika populations. I extracted and performed PCR on pika skin samples to determine the sex of individuals in a specific location.
