Volunteer
Rein-bow Riding Academy
I have volunteered at Rein-bow Riding Academy during my time at Freed Hardeman University. Rein-bow Riding Academy provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy through hippotherapy. As a volunteer, I meet the clients, side walk, and clean common areas. Side walking is my main job where I walk along side the horse while the client/patient is riding. I ensure that they are safe and comfortable while riding. I also assist the therapists/instructors by reiterating instructions to the rider and participate in therapy activities.
Mission Work/Service Projects
In the Spring of 2022 I went on a week-long mission trip to Bayou La Batre, Alabama. We assisted the church in organizing a vacation Bible school, cleaning the church, cleaning homes, organizing games for children, and organizing a food/clothes drive for the community.
In the Summer of 2023, I went on a week-long mission trip to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. We assisted the church in organizing a vacation Bible school, setting up decorations, organizing crafts, service projects, and games for children, and cleaning the church building.
I helped create sensory boards for classrooms of the school of Chester County. We built sensory boards by gathering different objects and secure them on the board. We obtained objects like doorknobs, light switches, sand paper, and other sensory items.
Creative Kids Learning Center
For a semester I volunteered at the Creative Kids Learning Center in Henderson, Tennessee. I went there a couple times a week and assisted children with homework. I would also go outside and play games with the children.
Extra Curriculars
Study abroad
In the Spring of 2023, I participated in the study abroad program at my college. I got to travel all over Europe. This experience taught me valuable life skills that I can use in future school and jobs. I learned to communicate with peers, plan trips and activities effectively, manage time, and balance life and school.
Pi Epsilon
In the fall of 2022, I was on the steering committee for the Professional Club of Kinesiology Majors at Freed Hardeman University. My job was to create and organize meetings, activities, and presentations. I learned valuable leadership skills and communication skills. The steering committee was a team of four and we worked together to create a beneficial and encouraging environment for other kinesiology students. I was able to create meaningful relationships within my major while participating in Pi Epsilon.
Xi Chi
Xi Chi is a social club at Freed Hardeman University that I have participated in since my first semester. I have been on mission trips, service projects, and spiritual retreats with Xi Chi. I have made many meaningful and influential friendships while participating in this club.
