• Developed new applications of differential thermal melting points for reverse PCR to acquire recombinant DNA of GP94 mutant
• Acquired expertise in Mycobacterium smegmatis growth, liquid and solid media preparation, sterile technique, DNA extractions, protein extractions, spectrophotometry, PCR, primer design, phage genomic DNA purification, DNA and protein purification and quantification
• Prepared agarose, polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis and mobility shift assays to identified binding activity
• Maintained and updated records of all experiments performed, including experimental details and results in Microsoft Excel
• Mentored three undergraduate students in critical thinking, teamwork and problem solving in setting up Bradford assays, DNA extractions, electrophoresis, and protein size exclusion chromatography
• Analyzed GP94 protein interaction either aids in transcription of host DNA or bacteriophage DNA
