Within the 29 years with the Chicago Police Department, I worked in various units that allowed me to learn additional skills outside of policing. I worked in the Information and Strategic Services Unit for five years. There, I helped develop the department's first fully Automated Incident Reporting Application (AIRA), criminal surveillance van and the Police Observation Device (PODS) that are all still being utilized by the Department today. I also worked as the Head Timekeeper in a unit with over 350 people. I maintained accurate records for employees' overtime hours worked, tracked employees' vacation, personal and sick leave earnings and use and calculated employers' leave time by comparing available hours against listed hours, in addition to various of other timekeeping duties.
