To obtain a faculty position in HIM that allows me to share my enthusiasm and knowledge of HIM to help develop the passion and the skills necessary to allow the students to exceed the success I have had in the HIM field and to become promising leaders in field.
-Teach a minimun15 TLE in HIM each Fall and Spring Semester
-Utilize various software applications such as MS Office, Brightspace LMS, Zoom, Anthology, Curriculog, AHIMA Virtual Lab, Connect and Mindtap with and without DEI fee for course materials. Banner, Banner Navigate, and Degree works, are utilized for advising and Curriculog is used for the Curriculum Committee documents
-Serve on Various Departmental and College Wide Committees
-Promote Kindness and Inclusion throughout the college
-Develop Curriculum in adherence to AHIMA's 2018 Curriculum Requirements
-Assist program director in maintaining CAHIIM accreditation for the HIM program
-Serve as a Master Advisor for the college and promote academic retention and completion.
-Support the mission of the college in helping to transform the lives of our students and the communities we serve by providing innovative and creative opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve.
Was responsible for all areas of the HIM department including medical transcription and medical staff services. During my employment the department implemented a new transcription system, kept outstanding coding accuracy as demonstrated by outside reviewers (Laguna), maintained a positive relationship with the medical staff, decreased AR days and had very positive Joint Commission Surveys.
This is currently called the Tennessee QIO.
Responsible for screening medical records through contract with Medicare. We performed chart review for medical necessity, DRG validation, quality care screening and trending and utilization review.
