  • I am writing to express my interest in the Street Section Crew Leader position to further advance my career with the Village of Buffalo Grove Public Works Department. With progressive experience in both the Forestry and Water Sections — including serving as a Water Section Crew Leader — I have developed strong leadership, operational, and infrastructure maintenance skills that directly align with the responsibilities of this role.
  • During my time as Water Section Crew Leader, I supervised daily field operations, coordinated infrastructure repairs, maintained the cross connection program, ensured safety compliance, and responded to emergency situations. I maintained regulatory standards while leading crews in demanding and time-sensitive environments. My hands-on experience with underground utilities, heavy equipment operation, roadway restoration, and interdepartmental coordination has prepared me well for leadership within the Street Section.
  • My background in Forestry and Water also strengthened my knowledge of right-of-way maintenance, storm response, equipment management, and public safety. I understand the importance of maintaining roadways, drainage systems, and public infrastructure efficiently and safely. Having worked closely with the Street, Forestry, Water, Sewer and Drainage Sections on utility restoration and storm operations, I am familiar with the standards and expectations required to maintain quality city streets.
  • I take pride in leading by example, maintaining high safety standards, and fostering teamwork. I am confident that my leadership experience, technical knowledge, and dedication to public service would make me a strong asset to the Street Section.
  • Thank you for your time and consideration. I welcome the opportunity to further discuss how my experience and skills can benefit the department and Village as we are the “Long term stewards of Village assets”.
  • Sincerely
Eric Hansen
