  • The project involved moving 2 Petabytes of data across 5 major applications with red-ip data using Snowball, AWSCLI, and datasync
  • TLS was implemented to encrypt network traffic using TCPS protocol and Qualcomm generated certificates
  • Data at rest was encrypted using a combination of SSE-S3 and KMS
  • Lifecycle Management policies were put in place to archive data to Glacier Deep Archive cutting the storage cost by nearly $1 million each year
  • Migrated on-premise Exensio application for data analytic from Oracle to AWS using open source Apache Cassandra running on EC2 instances
  • The migration allows data to be loaded on time for engineers to analyze and reduce waste on chip manufacturing
  • Purchased new SuperMicro servers to replace 28 nodes Cisco UCS servers to refresh the hardware due to instability and out of support issues on the old servers
  • The transition to new hardware involves installing RHEL 7.x, Vertica software, and migrating the database over during the cutover process
  • Implemented Vertica clusters for our Optimal Plus application during the transitioning from SQL Server
  • Backend for parametric data is on MapR Hadoop cluster
  • Designed backup, monitoring, and configuration of the Vertica database clusters running on VMs and physical hardware
  • Planned and managed the migrations of databases from San Diego and Las Vegas data centers to the Switch, NV Supernap colo for QCT Engineering databases as a part of Project Nevada
  • This involves switching to new hardware, virtualizing many of the environments, and coordinating with the project managers, web tier, and application components
  • Managed the relabling, scanning, and mounting the 3PAR LUNs for the Data Power Copy-on-Write refresh process in Las Vegas
  • A repeatable process has been created to ensure that the monthly clone refreshes are successful on 3PAR as it has been with NetApp
  • Migrated QCT Analytic Netezza database from the Skimmer to the TwinFin6 using the NZBACKUP and NZRESTORE utilities
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Senior, Intermediate and Offshore DBAs for technical issues and project planning
  • Planned and standardized the migration of Oracle data warehouse databases from Oracle to Netezza Appliance on both the Skimmer and TwinFin systems
  • The move to postgres database was to improve data warehousing performance as well as cut down on the time to implement new applications
  • Configured monitoring for the entire Netezza stack to email and page Netezza DBAs for minor and major alerts respectively.

  • Worked with Oracle Development to on a one-off patch for 10.2.0.2 on streams purged process creating orphan segments and quickly consuming the streams tablespace
  • Setup reports for streams latency and over spilled messages
  • Run and analyzed streams health check reports to trouble-shoot problems with streams capture, propagation, and apply processes
  • Implemented metrics and monitoring for Soemon3 prior to the launch of the PS3
  • This included numerous hours trouble-shooting and configuring the Net SNMP agent to query the Oracle MIBs and Non-Oracle MIBs trees through the OEM subagent
  • Migrated the SCE warehouse from ocfs2 to RAW file system due to ocfs2 memory corruption
  • This included laying out a RAW file system mapping, installing Oracle 10g RAC, and recreating the database
  • Responsible for the RMAN full and incremental backups using block change tracking for the data warehouse Production and Non-Production environments
  • We also use clone splits technology for backup of databases on a daily basis
  • I have setup backup on the clone splits site where the daily splits are mounted to reduce performance hits on the main Production warehouse
  • Repartitioned large tables in the data warehouse to make use of partition pruning and data management
  • The maintenance includes compressing old data partitions and using online table redefinition to move the data to read only tablespaces.
