York
01.2023 - 01.2025
  • PGx sample preparation/testing for pain management
  • Patient UDS sample preparation for analysis on LCMS and Chemistry Analyzer
  • Calibrated LCMS and chemistry analyzers for accurate testing results.
  • Preparing Toxicology samples for analysis
  • Oversaw daily lab operations, maintaining HIPAA, CAP, and PA-DOH compliance.
  • Guided staff in daily operations, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
  • Use of the LIS system to verify and login samples received from the physician’s owned clinic
  • Reviewed and approved test results for release to clinic staff.

Senior Scientist

Bayer Pharmaceutical
Myerstown
01.2021 - 01.2023
  • Led the reformulation of Bayer aspirin products (80mg and 325mg tablets) in a clinical lab setting, focusing on treatment for heart conditions and headache relief.
  • Additionally, I reformulated the Claritin family of products that provided treatment of allergic reactions.
  • Secured medical and regulatory approval for each reformulation.
  • Developed analytical methods and assays with lab technicians to accurately determine potency of API and excipients for both products.
  • Managed FDA regulated pilot plant, collaborating with NPD team on new formulas to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Conducted quality assurance reviews to address CAPA deviations and implement resolutions.
  • Established and maintained close working relationships with Analytical Sciences, CMC, Quality, Data Analytics, Research, and manufacturing teams to manage program strategy, communicate progress to leadership, and drive cross-functional alignment.

Senior Scientist

Merck Pharmaceutical/ALKU
West Point
01.2019 - 01.2020
  • Utilized aseptic techniques and a variety of antibodies/specimens in FDA regulated clinical research to assess interactions between excipients and API in monoclonal antibody development.
  • Developed a freeze-thaw method ensuring API and excipients remained suspended without potency loss after confirming excipients did not affect API.
  • Utilized HPLC to determine various interactions of the excipient against the API.
  • Implemented corrective and preventive actions to improve quality assurance processes.
  • Conducted quality assurance assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Immunotherapies are used in conjunction with chemotherapy in the treatment of lung cancer.

Senior Scientist

Armstrong World Industries
Lancaster
01.2016 - 01.2019
  • Provided technical support for manufacturing and NPD scale-up of innovation projects from lab to pilot plant to production.
  • Managed reformulation of 56 coating formulas due to Force Majeure, consolidating formulas to achieve $354K cost reduction.
  • Replaced and reformulated alternative raw material for coatings thus decreasing costs $1.8M in 3 manufacturing facilities.
  • Qualified and validated plant-based organic raw material to replace formaldehyde-based fiberglass.
  • Created DOE to assess outcome prior to scale-up and validation.

Chemist

Johnson and Johnson
Lancaster
01.2014 - 01.2015
  • Conducted HPLC analysis to assess potency of multiple APIs, ensuring product quality.
  • Developed assays for new excipients to enhance formulation effectiveness of APIs.
  • Supported quality assurance processes to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Scientist/Chemist

Life Technologies
Fredrick
01.2013 - 01.2014
  • An FDA CLIA High Complexity Lab focused on clinical research, testing various human tissue samples to determine types of infection.
  • Worked on developing a method for drying an experimental API that was used in the treatment of bacterial infections.
  • We used various stands of bacteria collected from human tissue to understand how the drying method affected the API’s reaction to the bacteria.
  • Potency levels of the API on the bacteria were checked by using HPLC.
  • Scaled the drying process for API production after confirming potency stability.
  • Conducted detailed tissue analysis using Quante Studio 5 to support clinical research objectives.

Chemist

Dentsply
York
01.2011 - 01.2013
  • I worked in the clinical research lab under the supervision of two Ph.D.’s using human saliva (human specimens) to determine its interaction with various polymers used in the development of dentures, and fillings.
  • The new polymer that was developed from these studies would allow for the prevention of various irritations of the mouth.
  • Using mass spectroscopy, we were able to detect if toxins leached from the polymer into the new denture plates that would cause irritation of the mouth.
  • Additionally, I was able to develop a novel method for mixing polymers along with developing the test method to determine viscosity and flow using an FT4.
  • Provided dental products to clients

Formulation Scientist

JM Huber Corporation
Haver de Grace
01.2010 - 01.2011
  • Developed innovative toothpaste formulas to enhance oral health and consumer satisfaction
  • Designed unique flavor profiles for products to improve market appeal and customer experience
