  • As a E1 pvt, I was first stationed in Kitzingen, Germany 2003-2005
  • My job was a dismount soldier in an armored troop carrier/tank called a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle
  • I was promoted through the soldier ranks and became a Non-Commissioned Officer E5 Sgt while at my first duty station, surpassing all the soldiers within my unit before receiving orders for Washington State, Fort Lewis
  • Our Division deployed to Iraq for the year of 2004
  • My second duty station was Fort Lewis, Washington in 2005-2009
  • I was assigned to a new unit which had been issued a new Infantry Vehicle named Stryker
  • As a sergeant in the Infantry, I was assigned the duty of Fire-Team Leader
  • This required me to be responsible for 7-soldiers
  • I took this responsibility very seriously, and realized I would be leading these men into combat!
  • Deployed to Demilitarized Zone South Korea 02/2006 as show of force
  • Deployed to Iraq for the year of 2007
  • Maintained accountability of assigned equipment and personnel
  • Remained proficient in vast array of weapon systems through live-fire exercises and familiarization

  • As a field-welder for Caldwell Tanks, I would receive an address of the planned construction location, and the start date for construction
  • As a member of the construction-team, we would arrive, stand up the tower legs with a crane, and begin lifting the steel sections into the air
  • We would put together the sections typically 150-feet in the air, fitting and welding the sections inside and outside
  • This is a very challenging and hazardous job
  • As a 19 year-old male, I enjoyed the adventure and challenge
  • Welded components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Utilized a variety of welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Operated welding equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure quality welds
