Quality control inspector I
Wilwood Engineering
04.2022 - 12.2024
My first responsibility involved conducting first article inspections (FAI) within the CNC department as the machinists commenced their duties, then once more when the swing shift took over.
I carried the FAI binder, which contained a detailed inspection checklist for each CNC machine. Additionally, the milling machine maintained a folder that included a copy of the blueprint schematic for the part scheduled for production that day.
My task was to select the first five components and perform dimensional inspections according to the specifications outlined in the blueprint, utilizing calipers. The visual inspection process required the use of a loupe magnifier to evaluate quality compliance, identifying any defects such as cracks, flash, tool marks, and assessing the overall aesthetics, including surface irregularities, legibility of part numbers, and logo connectivity with calipers.
QC duties
Review the monitor screen showing the list of orders to complete by grabbing the order from first to last from the samples shelf.
I then verified the part number and headed to the filing cabinet to find the corresponding file, conducting a review of previous inspections and blueprint drawings, while verifying whether the revisions to the blueprints were current and accurate.
Ran my physical and visual inspection of the part. I used various measurement tools such as, Rockwell material hardness scale, durometer shore tester, digital calipers, micrometers, height gauges, digital coating thickness gauges, levels, thread checkers, and thread plug gauges (go and no go), while training on CMM machine.
Upon successful completion of the visual and physical inspection, I proceeded to the shipping and receiving department. I retrieved the pallets containing the parts under review and conducted an examination of a predetermined percentage of the components, by the specified order quantity, to identify any imperfections.
Proceed to transfer the measurements I hand-recorded on a checklist sheet into our computer dimensions inspection records software following inspection completion.
Before purchasing materials, I double-checked my work to avoid any order mistakes. Proceeded to submit the order via the purchasing portal.
I then secured the Gaylord or pallets of boxes containing the components.
Stamped the box with my employee QC number, initial, and stamped the documentation, and returned the pallet along with a copy of the purchase order placed in the receiving department's file tray.
I inspected every single component of our aftermarket vehicle brake system parts we offered, including: brake calipers, rotors, brake rotor hats, spindles, rear end axle seals, brake caliper pistons, bearing seals, brake pads, braided steel brake lines, parking brake cables, hand brakes, composite pedal assemblies, master cylinders, master cylinder reservoirs, rubber gaskets, o-ring seals, and various other cylinders and reservoirs for motorcycles including: handlebar master cylinders, slave cylinders, bracket kits, bolt kits, and brake fluid.
I examined each component produced by the company with rigorous adherence to the precise tolerances outlined in the engineering department's blueprints and company SOPs.
Parts that did not successfully pass the inspection would be set aside, and the pertinent information would be communicated to the manager for further relay to the engineering department.
Contributed to the Returns Management Authorization (RMA) department during periods of reduced activity in the Quality Control department.
RMA duties
Inspected returned items, re-packaged unused components, and managed the disposal of defective or non-defective parts.
Used a golf cart to navigate to the inventory warehouse. There, I'd gather the essential assembly parts needed to finalize all repackaging orders.
Ensuring everything was in place and the orders were complete, I palletized the orders. Once completed, I would call the inventory manager to arrange for the collection of the pallets and ready the next phase.

I traveled to various Costcos in Ventura and LA counties, where I set myself up at the kiosk to provide exceptional one-on-one customer service.
My approach involved greeting potential clients, introducing myself, and elaborating on how Costco members had exclusive perks available. After the initial general conversation, I then delivered the company-provided scripted speech designed to capture their interest in how switching to AT&T could enhance their experience.
I highlighted the members-only perks they could enjoy and explained how bundling their services with a single provider could lead to even greater savings.
Once I had their interest, I focused on building rapport, discussing their current services, and outlining how I could help them reduce costs on their cell phone, satellite TV, and high-speed Internet.
We engaged in a meaningful conversation about the perks and savings opportunities available, which naturally led me to inquire about the amounts they were currently paying for their service providers. To better understand their needs, I asked what they wanted and expected from their cable, Internet, and cellular services. I engaged them in discussions about their favorite TV channels and movies, Internet usage tied to their current speed, and their experiences with their cell service and bills.
As the conversation progressed, I introduced them to the various plans we offered, emphasizing the flexibility of picking and choosing their preferred TV channels. Internet, and cellular plan expectations.
Upon gathering all the necessary information, I was able to recommend the best possible bundle plan tailored to their interests and expectations while meeting their needs and budget.
To wrap things up, I presented them with a final price for their bundled services and compared it to their existing contracts. I highlighted the competitive pricing and exceptional service we provide, emphasizing how we could assist with paying off their current contracts and offering free installation.
Once clients were ready to proceed, I took input their general information on a tablet before transferring them to our customer service line using my company-provided cell phone and tablet.
After Rep explained the contractual agreement in detail, I ensured all their questions were answered before providing a physical contract to read and sign. Once the client fully understood the agreement, I went over the contract once again, including their general information I had input in the tablet before finalizing, they proceeded to sign on the tablet and paper copy I provided.
After closing the sale, I handed them a copy of the contract agreement. I then expressed my gratitude for their time and shared my personal information with them, encouraging them to reach out if they had any further questions or concerns in the future.
This was a part-time job I worked on the weekends and a few evenings out of the week to supplement my income.

Start with the first article inspection of the build of materials (B.O.M) to verify correct parts are being used in the assembly.
We checked every lot and part number to verify that the correct parts were given to us by the material handlers. Verify the label and batch record to make sure the job number, customer number, and order quantity are correct. I then checked and verified the drawing number, revision number, and manufacturing date. If gamma tests were within a 2-year expiration date, which was required on the label. I would also check for any notes or deviations on the batch record as well to check if the job required parts to be sent to gamma radiation testing
Also, in-house LAL testing and pressure testing.
Before allowing technicians to proceed with assembly, it was essential to evaluate the initial assembly thoroughly. This assessment ensured that all components met the specified requirements and identified any potential issues. Only after confirming that everything was in order should the technicians continue with the build process.
Move to “in-process” inspection included… I measured the length of silicone tubing cut per blueprint requirements and made sure they were within tolerance, visually inspected filters and exterior clamps for any embedded particles larger than our TAPPI chart would allow, which provided sizes in microns.
Then measure and decide if it passed or failed. I would reject parts if larger than the parameters or if fabrication made errors in plastic welding barb connectors on bottles. Check quantity according to the number of jobs per ANSI SOP.
Final inspections were conducted with a commitment to achieving a 100% inspection rate on the completed assembly. Following this, the technicians performed a thorough cleaning and packaging process, after which the Quality Control (QC) team conducted a visual inspection before techs moved to vacuum seal the initial bag. The technicians then label, package, and seal the item once more before handing it back to the QC team for a subsequent and final visual inspection. This step ensures that there are no loose particles or fibers present within the bag. Should any contaminants be identified, they are tagged and returned to the technicians for removal.
Once the job was complete properly according to the blueprint, ingredients, we signed and closed out on the shop track program, then sent through a pass-through for the Shipping department.
To finalize batch records, it was vital to verify accuracy and ensure all signatures are present before scanning them into a digital format for documentation. Although this task was primarily the responsibility of the Quality Assurance (QA) department, I was asked to come in two hours early to train for a new lead position for the QC team and assist QA department with the high volume of records needing to be scanned and entered digitally. At this juncture, I assumed the responsibilities associated with both Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
Traveling Merchandiser
The Home Depot
01.2013 - 02.2020
I traveled to various retail locations including Goleta, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, and Oxnard, with each day dedicated to a different store.
My responsibilities encompassed all facets of retail merchandising. I utilized a variety of hand and power tools to adjust shelving as necessary. This process involved removing all merchandise to either lower or raise shelves in accordance with the planogram.
Upon positioning the shelf at the appropriate height, I would replace the wooden supports, referred to as “stickers,” utilized for shelving. If additional “stickers” were required, I would procure a 20-foot 2x4 from the lumber aisle and use a table saw to cut them to the required dimensions.
Additionally, I was responsible for constructing displays for each store and securing them with zip ties or locking cables to mitigate the risk of theft or vandalism.
I operated several types of forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up models, as well as reach lifts and scissor lifts, all of which I am certified to operate legally.
My role also involved moving and organizing merchandise to maintain well-structured shelves.
I performed store resets and introduced new products by rearranging product bays and aisles according to the established planogram.
Operations Production Lead/Machine Operator
Pinnpack Packaging
06.2008 - 12.2013
I worked in a controlled environment, which mandated the use of personal protective equipment, including: disposable isolation gowns, safety glasses, face masks, latex gloves, and hair/beard nets. This protocol was essential to safeguard food-grade plastics from contaminants.
Installed plastic-injection molds on the machines.
Assembled mold templates for injection mold machines.
Ran and maintained machines for components to pass inspections successfully.
As parts failed inspections, I stopped the machine and ran an evaluation of the machine, including temperature, time, and proper feeding.
Used a forklift or pallet jacket to take gaylords full of material to the 20-foot large grinder, which would turn large pieces of plastic into small beads of plastic to be recycled and reused for further injection molding.
Feed excess materials, as well as non-conforming and defective components, to the grinder for re-utilization in subsequent molding processes.
The material was stored for future utilization, and this process was conducted repeatedly throughout the day.
An opportunity arose for the role of production Lead, After my evaluation, I was selected for this position to oversee machine operations and material handling.
Relayed critical information to and from the materials lead and the machine operations lead, where we discussed inventory, daily component production goals, verifying what components were on the docket, and meeting quality standards, as well as adhering to company SOPs.
