I went on a trip to Australia and New Zealand with a bunch of my peers last summer without the supervision of my parents for 10 days. Leading a group of my friends in a foreign country (Australia) without the supervision of my parents. Even though this is an informal leadership role, this experience taught me to not just be accountable for myself, but in order to be an excellent leader, you have to be accountable for all the members you are leading, and to lead by example.
Being a part of two separate high school sports teams for 3 years (Football and Lacrosse). Taught me how to be coachable and adapt to situations that may be uncomfortable for me or daunting at first. The biggest activity I had an impact on was volunteering at a concert to help elderly guests with whatever they needed help with, whether it was getting to their seat or just needing a person to talk to, during my junior year.
