As a Banker's Life Associates, my main job was to advise clients on health insurance options and benefits to ensure that they make well-informed decision-making in what is arguably one of the most life-changing decisions financially. I've learned to conduct thorough needs assessments to customize insurance solutions for diverse client profiles unique to their situations. Not only through this did I learn the basics of health insurance and achieving my official health insurance license after 3-4 months of training, I've learnt to also connect with clients on personal levels of understanding each individual's needs and wants, further developing my communication skills along the way.
Working briefly at Sam Levitz furniture, I've learned to assist customers in selecting furniture that meets their needs and preferences, while maintaining knowledge of current inventory and product features to provide accurate information. I've not only learned to processes transactions efficiently using point-of-sale systems, but learned to expand my communication skills in a one-on-one client interaction system where understanding consumer needs is key.
As part of the Business 3 internship program hosted by my High School, I was required to actively seek out an unpaid internship with a company of my future interests. And as a future property investor, I chose Long Realty Real Estate Agency as the company I would Intern at.
However, due to my general inexperience of work, as well as the missing agency license I was required to do any professional work, I was put on simpler tasks, such as printing out notes digitally and rechecking calculations. It was less of me actively attending any business meetings and more of a one-on-one internship with an agent there. The biggest part of the experience in my opinion was that I learnt how to operate on basic Microsoft Excel and business communications, learning how to cross boundaries between Apple and Microsoft software.
