  • Supervise the classification of cotton performed by a shift of 60+ seasonal employees assigned to the office to ensure accurate testing level of High Volume Instrument(HVI) machines and accurate extraneous matter determinations.
  • Ensure that High Volume Instrument (HVI) machines are properly calibrated for testing and that repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely manner.
  • Analyze internal and external reports in order to maintain a consistent HVI testing and classing level within our office and to remain on the proper level with QMP standards.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting equipment issues or other production challenges that impacted product quality levels.
  • Oversee the Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC) Trials and Preseason line evaluations
  • Provide technical and customer service support to gin personnel in regard to claims of inaccurate and/or delayed classing, and information about USDA,AMS Cotton and Tobacco services.

  • Formulate cost comparisons necessary to determine office annual funding needs.

  • Assist the Area Director, Assistant Area Director and Budget Technician in the hiring process including rating candidates and conducting interviews.
  • Annually assess workforce needs in order to create seasonal employee shift schedule for all three shifts.
  • Perform performance ratings of seasonal employees and two permanent employees in order to improve performance and productivity as well as to determine employee developmental needs.
