Accomplishments at Antioch Medical Center:
2015- Implemented the importance of early use of speaking valves in tracheostomy patients still on ventilators and difficult to wean Researched the proper placement, indications, contraindications, and proper ventilator setting for each type of ventilator Collaborated with speech therapy partners for common goals for speech and swallow evaluations
2017- Attended End Of Life seminar in San Diego to educate and train staff on strategies for coping with End Of Life scenarios and how we can console the patient and family
2019- Developed new processes for proning ventilator patients using the ceiling lift in ICU rooms vs manual proning in ICU rooms Gathered multidisciplinary teams, such as Respiratory Therapist, ICU RN, Wound Care RN, Safety Champion Officer, and management Once the process was refined and met the teams standards, extensive training provided to staff using large poster flip chart, video recordings uploaded on Healthstream, and proper supplies/ equipment implemented into grab and go carts
2021- Lots of focus on scheduling respiratory staff due to endless burnout from pandemic Proper strategies used to not violate union contract when implementing the use of staffing agencies Extensive organization when orienting and training of agency staff Reported reviews of agency staff to met Kaisers goal of quality care
2022- Assisted with interviewing and hiring new net staff for on-call positions Oversaw the process of internal and external transfers to successfully follow union contract to avoid any grievances
