I became a caregiver about three years ago, thanks to my mom. She has her own business doing private care, and it has changed my life purpose. We provide the best quality of life possible. My mother and I take our clients on trips, include them in holidays, and gatherings, and ultimately become family. Each day, I helped ambulate, medicate, and assist with bathing. I am trained in wound care and basic life-saving measures. I transport my clients to and from appointments, events, and outings. I can truly feel the difference I make in their lives. I discovered how much I love to be present with the people I take care of. My favorite days on the job are the days I get to create fun enrichment activities to do with them. My traditional ones are trips to Amish country, football Sundays, and board game nights. The hardest part of this job is end-of-life care, with which I am also familiar.
