Student Laboratory Research Volunteer (April 2022 - May 2023)

Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies 

  • Specialized in sorting, measuring, and checking samples of seagrass and nekton specimen's for quality control, as part of a research study.

Teaching & Public Speaking

Volunteer Educator & Guest Speaker - Environmental Psychology & Conservaton Project,  Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, Texas  (March 2023- Present) (Ongoing- Multiple Event Dates and locations: March 10, 2023, November 12, 2023, April 26 & 27, 2024, - current)

  • Educate college students each Fall and Spring semester on marine organisms and the importance of maintaining their habitats, while stressing the health of benthic organisms, and the long lasting effects humans have on the ocean. Give several additional small group talks about toxicology and pollution on location.
  • Assist in leading a beach cleanup while teaching participants about organisms and how to safely manage situations encountered on the beach. Participate in mini lessons reviewing the importance of maintaining clean beaches the negative impacts that pollution leaves on coastal environments.
  • Co-educator for field based trips- providing on location question and answer sessions specific to the purpose of the trip (conservation, environmental awareness, etc.)

Hobby Aquarium Experience

  • Set up and managed various tanks totaling over 200 different species of fresh, salt, and brackish water fish and invertebrates including Goby, Triggerfish, Clownfish, Floridian Flounder, Snowflake Moray Eel. Pleco, Discuss, and Archerfish.
  • Maintain quarantine and hospital tanks when necessary, along with geographic and parameter-specific tanks (i.e., created aquaria systems to mimic the native homeland of each species) utilizing fish ecology and common diseases and treatments.
  • 10 years of fish-breeding experience, including catfish, discus, and other central and South American fresh water species.
