Delivering high-level, evidence-based care to critically ill infants, children, and

adolescents in the pediatric intensive care unit.

• Collaborate with intensivists, subspecialist, and interdisciplinary teams to manage high acuity patients during daily rounds and emergent situations.
• Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and develop individualized care plans for critically ill pediatric patients, including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, congenital heart disease, neurological injury, and complex post-operative needs.
• Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate evidence-based interventions in alignment with best practices and hospital protocols.
• Monitor and adjust ventilator settings, sedation infusions, and vasoactive medications to maintain hemodynamic stability to patients requiring advanced life support.
• Provide family-centered care by communicating effectively with parents and caregivers , offering education, emotional support, and shared decision-making in high stress situations.
• Perform and assist with critical care procedures such as central and arterial line placement, lumbar punctures, and intubations.

Providing specialized, high-acuity care to critically-ill infants, children, and

adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease, before and after

cardiac surgeries, catheterizations, heart transplants, and ventricular assistive

devices.

• Deliver direct, continuous, and individualized nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in a cardiovascular ICU setting.
• Monitor and manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring systems (arterial lines, central lines, intracardiac catheters, pulmonary catheters, etc.)
• Administer and titrate critical care medications, including inotropes, vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, sedatives, and paralytics.
• Manage advanced life support therapies including mechanical ventilation, temporary pacemakers, and ventricular assistive devices.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other specialists in daily rounds and care planning.
• Provide post operative care for patients undergoing complex congenital heart surgeries.
