Provide instructional support for Guidance 143-148 lab courses at Del Norte Center offered through Disabled Students Programs and Services. Tutor all subjects, hire supervise and mentor student tutors. Submit timesheets to payroll and manage spreadsheet of budget allocated by Financial Aid and DSPS department budgets. In addition, proctor all accommodative testing for campus and provide information to instructors regarding accommodative testing procedures. Devise adaptive learning strategies for students based on verified learning disabilities and semester goals. Keep up to date with adaptive computer programs and help students utilize these programs to best address individual learning needs. Develop weekly materials addressing learning disabilities and learning strategies to be posted in Canvas and keep up with student engagement on posts. Responsible for tracking all course data for grade reporting as well as assisting students in navigating often unfamiliar college systems (Student Portal, Web Advisor). Using SARS and Outlook, schedule appointments for DSPS Student Development Advisor, other counselors on campus, and Learning Disability Specialist. Create resources and workshops based on reported student needs. Supervise lab activity to ensure student safety and to promote acollaborative, supportive learning community for all students.

Develop course content and provide instruction for students enrolled in GS-1, College Success, and Guid 8- Career Planning, at Pelican Bay State Prison. GS 1 is a college transferable course designed to inform and assist students in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to reach their educational objectives. Topics covered include self-discovery, motivation, memory development, time and stress management, learning orientations, textbook reading, note and test-taking skills, writing, healthy living practices, and career and academic planning. Guid-8 is an introduction to career planning. In developing this curriculum, special consideration was taken to not only address the course outline of record and learning objectives but to also tailor the course learning activities to address the unique set of challenges that face previously incarcerated individuals entering career paths.

Serve academic counseling needs of diverse student body including but not limited to students who may be adult learners returning to school, incarcerated individuals, high school students, or students with documented disabilities. As a partner with student, apply holistic approach that addresses individual learning differences and life circumstances to assist in scheduling classes, developing student educational plans, investigating career goals, and developing career plans. Facilitate access to and work alongside special programs (EOPS, CARE, DSPS, DOR) to work towards student's achievement of short-term and long-term educational goals. Worked in conjunction with students to develop educational plans and to investigate career goals. Facilitated access to appropriate information regarding special programs (EOPS, CARE, DSPS) to work towards achievement of short-term and long-term educational goals. Assisted students in accessing community resources that may supplement services provided by the college. Worked with students wishing to transfer in accessing resources and planning for that transition. Organized and led educational visits to regional colleges and universities. Developed and implemented student workshops such as a workshop series entitled “Occupational Empowerment Series”. Subjects ranged from personality types to career exploration, local career opportunities, and fiscal decision-making regarding career choices.
