When initially joining the work force after High School, I began work as a farmhand on a sugarcane estate in Jeanerette, Louisiana. While working for Dixieland Farms, I learned to tolerate very harsh working environments, such as extreme summer heat, cramped working spaces, long periods near loud fume filled motor areas, etc. Facing the everchanging mechanical and enviornmental complications present on a large farm, coupled with daily impending deadlines, I learned that I was well prepared for the beginning of my career in the HVAC industry.

I have a strong desire to serve my community and help others, especially in times of need. Once realizing that the HVAC field could provide the opportunity for a solid lifetime career and the satisfaction of assisting the people of my community, I enrolled in The Training Center of Heating and Cooling in Spring/Houston, Texas. Upon completion of the HVAC school mentioned prior, I then enrolled in an appliance repair school, Same Day Appliance Repair Academy (Houston, Texas), to further my knowledge & repair possibilities within the refrigeration industry.

Once completing the two schools mentioned above, I accepted a position as a HVAC technician with Eleet Mechanical Group in Mansfield, Texas. There I began my journey in obtaining experience for a solid base as a new HVAC technician. While employed with EMG I learned the makeup of light commercial and residential high temperature refrigeration equipment. I became versed in trouble shooting and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. I gained experience in quickly identifying problems and being able to explain them to customers prior to the necessary repair.

I spent approximately one year employed with EMG before deciding that the DFW area was not as appealing to me as my home area of Houston/Magnolia, Texas. While living away for that time, I learned that being more near my family and close friends was where I really desired to live. Although leaving an employer that I liked and deeply respected was difficult, I ultimately knew that moving back to my home town was where I wanted to continue my career for years to come.

Hi my name is Yusuf Aktan. I'm 17 but I do have my drivers license with a clean driving record. I have been in the HVAC field for around 9-10 months now and I was working as an installation technician. We have installed Rooftop Units to Mini Split systems, and I can say with confidence that I have seen a lot of what the installation side of HVAC has to offer. Although my strong suit is installation, I do have my fair share of servicing experience as well. I have been to many service calls by myself. I know how to charge/remove refrigerant and nitrogen, replace broken parts, and have an overall understanding of how each component works once I open the cap of the machine. I want to advance myself in the servicing side of HVAC and this is why I am applying to be a service tech. I am not worried about my wage too much, I mainly want to be there for the experience (Anywhere from minimum wage to 20 dollars an hour is fine for me). I am young and very eager to learn. In fact I'm currently taking a 9 month online HVAC course which I am on pace to be finishing in 4 months. I have bought plenty of books on HVAC servicing procedures, and watch videos online to try and learn as much as I can everyday. My chemistry with my coworkers is something I give much importance to.
