Executive Assistant to the Department Chair

University of New Mexico, School of Medicine
Albuquerque, NM
03.2023 - Current
  • As the Executive Assistant to the OB/GYN Chair, I organize and manage her complex calendar of appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements. I coordinate with internal departments on a regular basis to ensure efficient functioning of day-to-day operations. I also prepared reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, and other documents as needed by the executive staff. One of my duties is to provide administrative support in preparing contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation required for daily business activities. This position also taught me to monitor incoming emails and respond accordingly in a timely manner. I assist in developing policies and procedures pertaining to office administration matters. I do this with data entry into various software programs, including MS Excel spreadsheets. An exciting part of my job is assisting in organizing conferences, seminars, and other events. I greet visitors warmly upon arrival at the office premises. I also maintain company confidence and protect business operations by keeping sensitive information confidential.

Certified Medical Assistant

UNM Medical Group – South Campus Athletics
Albuquerque, NM
09.2022 - 03.2023
  • At the UNM Athletics clinic, we were responsible for the medical support and treatment of the athletes at the University of New Mexico. This fun and unique position allowed me to utilize all of my clinical and administrative skills, which I used in the past, all in one position. As a small team of two, the registered nurse and I worked independently to provide medical care, in addition to logistical support, to our patients. This is where my organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail, as an employee, were of utmost importance. One unique skill I have acquired with this position, in addition to my clinical duties, is enrolling our patients in the state Medicaid program and financial assistance. I was also responsible for entering and managing provider referrals to certain specialties outside of the University. When our providers suggested surgery for one of our patients, I helped facilitate surgery scheduling, as well as providing pre-op instructions and ensuring they receive their post-op medications ahead of time. We worked closely with the athletic trainers and coaches to ensure proper continuity of care. I believe the work we did at this facility was a big contribution to the success if our athletes
