Occupies a full-time position as a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit compromised of 30 beds designed for the care of acutely ill patients following complex surgical procedures. Provides care to a variety of adults and geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities who are undergoing, or experiencing complications associated with surgery including, not exclusive of the abdomen; organ transplant including liver; intestine; pancreas; kidney and face; head and neck surgery; and orthopedic or spinal surgery. Monitoring resuscitation, and support of organ systems. Consistently provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols. Provides world class patient care to patients with acute perioperative management needs or with acute post-operative complications. Oversees various aspects of telemetry by administering PA catheters and arterials, vasoactive drugs, titration, thrombolytic therapy, dysrhythmia interpretation, and chest tubes.
