• Executive Management
• Developed and implemented successful public outreach strategies with the public and provided oversight for over 1000 public meetings involving over 15,000 Seattle residents.
• Built the organization to implement two major levy-funded capital development programs and major maintenance program at the City of Seattle totaling over $200 million. Led the strategic planning efforts and reported to a variety of citizen advisory groups including the Pro-Parks Oversight Committee, the Parks Board and the South Lake Union Advisory board to ensure public input was included.
• Successfully obtained funding authority and approval from elected officials to develop and implement citywide technology initiatives and led interdepartmental team to achieve a citywide approach to technology.
• Created the first parks sustainable scorecard system and oversaw the completion of the City’s first LEED gold building.
• Budget and Policy Management
• Re-engineered lines of business resulting in improved delivery and storage of technology equipment realizing over $600k savings annually.
• Developed project based cost accounting systems resulting in financial accountability for over $175 million capital projects with completion on time and within budget. Strategically managed the risks associated with construction and property acquisition resulting in no construction claims against the City.
• Oversaw the development of planning efforts with the community, design boards and elected officials resulting in adoption of shoreline habitat plans, historic resource plans and public/private partnerships.
• Human Resource Management
• Developed employee performance and tracking systems to improve public sector employee accountability. Developed public sector recognition activities to keep morale high for employees working under high public scrutiny and challenging deadlines.
• Led the Information Technology departmental team effort to improve the performance evaluation process for employees.
• Increased ethnic diversity of staff and WMBE contracting participation across two City departments.
• Fostered employee development and created a project engineer apprenticeship program with Seattle Housing Authority residents.
