I have been a lifelong resident of St Joe County, marrying my husband 25 years ago, settling in Centreville, where we currently reside. My husband and I have 5 awesome kids ranging in ages 10-21 years old. I started my working career at the age of 16, working at the local Walmart. I was taught and given different responsibilities within the "front end" of the store. From cashier to CSM (Customer Service Manager), handling a variety of complaints and issues. At the age of 18, I was offered a substitute Rural Carrier position for the Burr Oak Post Office. I took the position and for a brief time worked at both Wal-Mart and the Post Office. Within two months of working for the USPS, I was offered a PTF Clerk position. I took the federal exam, passed and was hired into the Colon Post Office where I worked for many years. Working in a small office allowed me to help out at many other area Post Offices in St Joe County. In 2008, I transferred to the Howe Post Office in Indiana, working there for a little over a year. In September of 2009, my daughter was diagnosed with cancer and I chose to leave the Postal Service in April of 2010 to become a stay at home mom. I never regretted leaving the workforce to tend to my children, but as they have grown older and become more independent, I sought to rejoin the workforce again. I started with a couple of part time jobs eventually seeking out a full time position where I am currently employed. As a person, I enjoy being a wife and a mother. I am involved in our local church, partnering with my husband to lead a children's program on Sunday nights. I have been a youth leader for the Burr Oak 4-H club and Straight Shooters Program. I have been involved with organizing many events and activities within our community over the years. Personally, I enjoy camping, biking, kayaking, and many other activities with my family. I also enjoy scrapbooking, painting barn quilts, and crafting in general.
