Animal Husbandry/Youth Missions

Caring, hardworking and devoted to comprehensive animal care, wellness and breeding support, knowledge of breeds of chickens, goats, and some rabbits. Owned and maintained a family farm in Hawaii for 8 years. We cared for 3 goats, 15-18 chickens (diverse breeds) including roosters, and two breeding rabbits (New Zealand), and fostered relationships to help neighbors horses which were rotated in the pasture. We hosted groups from the Montessori preschool to tour the farm, help with caring and feeding the animals. Also, the groups from the Salvation Army youth program would visit the farm frequently to help tend to the animals. My experience in working with youth extended to the youth ministry at the local Salvation Army in Honokaa, HI where I developed and led groups of children up to 12-15 in numbers. We attended youth camps at Homelani on the island of Oahu. My passion for marginalized youth extended into the community to help the local Hawaiian children have opportunities for enrichment musically at the Salvation Army through music lessons and learning gospel music during youth church. Often we would take the kids on volunteer missions and serve the community through special service projects, helping with the food pantry, or participating in local parades.

Currently, since re-locating to Oregon and the Sunset beach community, my children and I always have an open door policy for the neighborhood children some who we offer encouragement, and also meals to that come from challenging backgrounds. My vision is to help develop programs to include children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to have the opportunities to be involved in the life changing 4H programs.
