- Perform culture work-ups, including susceptibility testing on positive blood cultures, respiratory/cystic fibrosis respiratory/streptococcus cultures, wound cultures including anaerobic work ups, urine cultures, and stool cultures.
- Perform culture work ups for viral cultures utilizing shell vials, fungus, AFB, malaria and ova and parasite specimens.
- Perform modified molecular testing using Cepheid, Biomerieux Biofire, Alethia illumigene and Diasorin liaison.
- Perform maintenance and use Vitek 2 to set up identification and susceptibility cards. Use Biomerieux MALDI-TOF for identifying bacteria and yeast.
- Receive and order CAP proficiency test specimens, enter results in the CAP website and review the results after they have been submitted and graded.
- Perform various validation testing, including writing the validation plan, performing the testing and entering the results.
- During the COVID pandemic I performed manual extraction on respiratory samples, used the Nuclisens easymag extraction machine, made master mix, loaded specimens on PCR plates, ran specimens on the Roche light cycles and interpreted and entered results.
- Received specimens using Cerner, set up cultures including positive bloods, CSF, wound, respiratory and fungus.
