Work History

Research Assistant

REACH-Cultural Psych Lab
Santa Barbara, California
09.2023 - Current
  • REACH is a cultural psych lab that researches how Latin American immigrants have acclimated to life in the United States.
  • I conduct 1- to 2-hour interviews with the participants of the lab in Spanish. I also take a small blood test sample, if given permission, to test cortisol levels for their stress. After the interviews, I transcribe what was said in order to input it into the computer programming. Learning how to communicate with people and ask about vulnerable topics is something for which I am appreciative as a research assistant. As a first-generation Latina college student, this experience has been so wholesome and important to me.

Instructional Development
Santa Barbara, California
09.2022 - Current
  • My branch in Instructional Development, called 'Video Services,' collaborates with faculty at UC Santa Barbara to deliver high-quality recording services for lectures and guest speakers.
  • The main component of this job is to record lectures for the professors and guest speakers at my university. I also work office shifts and am responsible for closing the office. I have learned to deal with technology every shift, and I am responsible for taking care of the expensive equipment I use. During my time here, I demonstrated fast-paced learning in how to use complicated machinery that I had never used before.
