Self taught myself with minimal training to achieve lab analyst certification grade 1. Doing this insured my position of Lab Technician at OPUD's laboratory. Three years later I was promoted to lab Director. I did this through dedicating myself to learning what the industry required for running an efficient laboratory.
Keep the laboratory ELAP certified by following regulatory compliance. Review and update the Quality System Manual, SOPs, policies and procedures, bench sheets and other documents.
Keep the laboratory clean and organized for performing testing under OPUD laboratory's Fields of Accreditation.
Keep records of calibration, testing, training and documentation for review and audits.
Be up to date with new regulations, EPA and CalEPA requirements.
Work with Water and Wastewater departments to make sure EPA, Department of Water Recourses, and NEPDES testing was performed in a timely manner.
Perform process control for the wastewater department and report results to the Chief Plant Operator. Keep records of the OPUD labs wastewater sample results for NEPDES regulatory audits. Schedule samples for testing with contract laboratories and review results.
Perform coliform and E.coli testing for drinking water in the distribution system. File monthly and quarterly reports with DWR.
Run a pest control route effectively through keeping updated with pest control technics, licensing, safety practices and regulations.
Work with customers to be able to perform a quality pest service.
