I've spent two summers at Hohman's Excavating. My main tasks involved installing septic tanks and water lines on job sites, which kept me busy outdoors. I also handled mowing and weed eating around the shop. All the while, I stayed enrolled at Warsaw Community Schools.

• That summer at the excavating company kept me busy digging trenches and laying new water lines across dusty job sites. We'd haul pipes into place, connect them tight, and backfill. While also doing septic repairs, busting out old cracked lines and patching them up.

I’ve worked with Scott for a long time now. We’d feed cattle together, day in and day out. While at it, we fixed up plenty of houses—repaired roofs, walls. That hands-on stuff taught us all sorts of trades, from carpentry to plumbing. We even farmed the land too, planting crops and tending fields.
