Fire
- Trained to fight fire as a member of a Type 1 CAL FIRE hand crew using tools and equipment such as a chainsaw, shovel, axe, McLeod, Pulaski, and back pump for fire suppression and fuel reduction.
- Trained to respond to vegetation fire calls; mop up assignments, and monitoring flare-ups.
- Trained to extinguish, control, and contain forest fires with fuel breaks.
- Controlled burn operations running drip torch, fusees back pump, gridding, and mop up.
- Ability to operate tools safely and properly maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle maintenance.
- Prepared to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) detailed by CAL FIRE and fire personnel.

Emergency Response
• Dispatched to emergencies to perform duties in a support manner to assist in facilities management/maintenance, supply/inventory distribution, kitchen/dining responsibilities, and support of any/all needs of personnel using FEMA Incident Command structure training.
• Dispatched to emergencies to perform duties in operations including but not limited to: Fire Suppression/Flood Fighting Methods/Hazard clean up.
• Worked 15-hour shifts performing fire camp support for up to 16 consecutive days.
• Constructed sandbag structures and performed wave wash protection on levees during periods of heavy rain.
• Provided logistical support at food banks, supply distribution centers, Red Cross shelters, and other facilities during times of emergency.
• Dispatched to the following emergencies: (Lake Fire, Coffee Pot Fire, Eaton Fire, LA County watershed protection task force, Hurricane Helena Recovery ).
Fire Fuel Reduction.
- Cut and removed brush, small trees, and other vegetation using chainsaws, weed-eaters, trimmers, handsaws, pole saws, rakes, McLeod's, Pulaski's, pruning shears, broom pullers, and shovels, to reduce hazardous wildland fuels and create a fuel break.
- Operated a variety of Chippers to reduce small trees and other vegetation into spreadable chips used to naturalize worksites.
- Conducted work to prepare control lines and serve as holding crew during controlled burn and mop up hot spots utilizing backpack pumps, chainsaws and/or other hand tools to effectively control prescribed burns.
- Applied herbicides to help control undesirable vegetation, using backpack or hand-held sprayer.
- Spread straw, plant small trees, shrubs, and spread grass seed to help restore sites after vegetation removal.

- Performed chainsaw maintenance on Stil 440 and 441, able to operate, maintain, disassemble, clean, sharpen, reassemble, and mix fuel for a chainsaw.

- Used a drip torch to light hand piles and understory on control burns.
- Monitored control burns to ensure safety of crew and forest. Address any concerns for safety due to winds, burn pattern and conditions.

Spike (Remote Work Assignments)
- Responsible for following camping diagram and creating site layout to ensure safety while on remote projects.
- Maintained clean work and camp site with use of sump pit, hanging trash bags and trash sweeping after spikes.
- Responsible for packing in and out food coolers and bins to camp locations and to secure food items and receptacles to minimalize wildlife traffic and issues.
- Followed prepared meal plan by using list of ingredients and food products to be used during daily mealtimes to ensure food was used according to schedule.
- Prepared meals on remote location assignments using minimal amenities and adhering to food safety and organizational guidelines.
