Work History
SPED Teacher
Bossier Parish School Board
Bossier City, LA
08.2022 - 05.2025
For the 2022-2023 and 2024-2025 school years I taught in a self contained specialty room covering grades K-3. All of the students had characteristics of or were diagnosed with ASD(Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Provided accomodations and modifications specified on each students' IEP.
Tracked data on student IEP goals, behavior, IASPs, etc.
In addition to teaching the general education curriculum for the aforementioned grade levels, I also taught the Unique alternate curriculum to the students who qualified and whose needs were determined to be best suited in the alternate curriculum.
Other duties included dealing with behavior ranging for mild to severe on a daily basis, leading a team consisting of myself and two other paras, lesson planning for 4-5 different curriculums (ELA, Math, Science, SS in grades 1-3 general education curriculum as well as Unique curriculum.
I wrote and, as needed, amended IEPs that were designed to help each student best bridge and narrow any educational gaps in Academic, Behavioral, Social, and Motor(Fine Motor and Sensory) goals.
I led IEP team meetings that included all pertinent individuals involved in each student's education. For example, parents, general education teachers, SLPs, OTs, APE teachers, etc.
For the 2023-2024 school year, I served as a generic SPED teacher servicing 2nd graders doing both resource and inclusion almost equally.
In this role, I continued to write and amend IEPs as well as lead team meetings. I helped students narrow gaps and strengthen educational weaknesses in a more generic setting.
