CubeSat Engineer

  • Active member of the Payload Subeteam working on the CubeSat mission.
  • Worked on downscaling the CHaS (Columbia H-alpha Spectrograph) payload for Columbia's LIONESS CubeSat, to be launched by 2027.
  • Systems engineer, worked on prototyping payload for Columbia’s mini CubeSat test launch.

Astronomy Science Researcher

  • Observed, analyzed, and predicted the orbit of the near-earth asteroid 1999 GJ2 50 million years into the future. 300+ hours of observational, theoretical, and computational astrophysics research.
  • Selected as one of 36 out of over 2400 applicants to participate in the Summer Science Program in Astrophysics at New Mexico Tech.
  • Imaged near-earth asteroid 1999 GJ2 using a research-grade Celestron C-14 telescope.
  • Determined 1999 GJ2's apparent magnitude and orbital elements by writing Python programs for differential photometry, astrometry, and the Method of Gauss.
  • Worked with the Southwestern Research Institute using SWIFT software (FORTRAN based) to predict the orbit of 1999 GJ2.
  • Submitted original observational data to the Harvard Smithsonian Minor Planet Center (MPC).
  • Performed experiments measuring dark current and bias in scientific images.
