  • Full responsibility for the preparation and submission of proposals for grants and contracts ensuring all tasks are completed on time and in full compliance of sponsor requirements.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for principal investigators with research partners, sponsors, and central compliance offices to provide oversight of all business elements related to their research portfolio.
  • Preparation of complex proposal budgets for grant proposal applications and developing clinical trial budgets in accordance with protocol requirements, and leading negotiations with industry sponsors to ensure timely agreement.
  • Responsible for the building and implementation of detailed post-award budget reports for multi-million dollar grant awards and clinical trials, analyzing grant and study spend rate, monitoring spending closely to ensure costs are correctly allocated in accordance with agreements and regulations, and up to date. Reports to leadership and principal investigators on both individual grant and overall portfolio health.
  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight for a team of post-award research administrators in a central compliance office ensuring appropriate workload distribution and staffing levels.
  • Provide training and consultation for new staff on application of pre- and post-award processes the grant management and clinical trial lifecycle.
  • Ensure the research administration team is adhering to best practices, providing guidance and professional development to achieve top performance.
  • Oversee administration procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational and governmental policies. When necessary, work with leadership to adjust or create new policies to facilitate best practices.
  • Extensive experience with process mapping and process improvement projects with a continuous process improvement mind-set.
  • Experienced with managing complex and acute administrative issues with a proven record of identifying problems, developing, and executing solutions.
