I am a patient ski instructor, I mostly taught kids from ages as low as 3 to teenagers. I never had a failed lesson, my main goal was always to make sure that the kids were having a good time on the snow. A lot of the time they didn't want to be there but I always made sure that by the end of the lesson they were having fun and had learned something.
