Starting at the age of 4, I have participated and watched the following sports: Soccer, Baseball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Hockey. I'm most passionate towards soccer, football, basketball, and recently, volleyball. Starting from age 4, I have played in school, travel, and indoor soccer leagues. I've only recently picked up watching the premier league, following Manchester United since 2022. However, watching the stars of the El Classico during the 2010s is when my interest and passion for the sport began to grow. To this day, soccer has become my favorite sport, and every Man United pre-season, league, and cup match will be on my television.
As for the other football, I have been forced to watch it every Sunday since I was born. The male side of my family has always played and adored football, with my fraternal grandfather previously becoming a professional referee for college games. In my household, every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night was reserved to watch the greats of the gridiron. Once I started playing at age 9, I was very excited for my future of playing football. Unfortunately, as a small kid undergoing almost no growth, only 2 years later, I suffered a sprained neck and a concussion after taking a serious hit to the back of my head. From then on, I've remained safely on my couch or in the stands whenever a football game is present.
Instead, come the following year as a 7th grader, I picked up basketball. I hadn't really watched much, but my mother had a brother that played at West Virginia. Of course, I wasn't so lucky as to equal his height and stature, but I somewhat made up for it with my shooting and passing abilities. I didn't receive much playing time throughout the following 5 years, which eventually led me to quit before my senior year. I did, however, start watching the NBA, and found new love in the form of Dwayne Wade's Miami Heat, who would actually go on to retire the same year I quit.
To fill the void after suffering heartbreaking defeats in the playoffs of both my junior and senior seasons of soccer, I was intrigued by the volleyball tournaments my school would hold every year in the spring. We had no official men's team, so anyone who entered had practically no experience. I decided to enter, and both years produced even more affection for sports from my teenage mind. As someone who only stood at roughly 5'4" my junior year, I was unable to be an offensive threat, so my efforts were geared towards receiving and passing the ball. That tournament, despite not even knowing how to pass a volleyball, I made multiple saves and helped our team upset the seniors in the final. The following tournament was even sharper then the last, with us now seniors winning yet again. This sparked a fire in my eyes, and I decided to try for the club team at Canisius college. Somehow, despite having never officially played, and surrounded by guys more than 4 inches taller than me, I made the team as a backup libero. I've made tons of memories, and have improved incredibly over the past season, and look to do even better this upcoming year.
