Evan Pierce

• Participated in mission trips to impoverished countries such as Malawi, Cambodia, and the Dominican Republic to build schools and orphanages. Pharmaceutical and dental clinics were established for the duration of the time in each country, providing an opportunity to experience patient interaction with a language barrier, as well as planting the seeds to realize a passion for helping others.
• Community building opportunities offered at Walla Walla University, including park restoration and nursing home visitations.
• Volunteer head coaching for the JV basketball team at Upper Columbia Academy, including running 2-3 practices each week and attending games and tournaments.

• Over 100 hours of shadowing at Northwest Orthopedic Specialists, which included a mix of both surgical and clinical days.
• 30 hours of radiology shadowing at Kootenai Medical Center
• 20 hours of shadowing a variety of fields at Sacred Heart Medical Center, including anesthesiology, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and interventional radiology

I have always enjoyed staying active, and I pursue a variety of sports and weight lifting in my free time. Staying active offers a great outlet and has always been a place where I can express myself outside of the classroom. I grew up playing a variety of instruments, including french horn, bass guitar, and piano, which has led me to appreciate music in almost any form. Cultural studies is another passion of mine, as mission trips and my family's foreign background have instilled a desire to learn more about the world around me. In addition to staying active, music, and cultural studies, I have been extremely blessed to be in a position to work with children of all ages in a variety of settings. I have established lasting connections with both the people I have coached and their parents, and I hope to remain a mentor to younger generations when I begin my career.
