  • As a Herd Health Manager I was responsible for the day to day health of the milking herd. I was also responsible for the breeding and calving teams in the farm.
  • Identification and treatment of sick animals Using Nedap collars and software for monitoring and identification of animals that required attention.
  • Performed Artificial Insemination on all cows and heifers on heat.
  • Performed calving procedures in the farm.
  • Visual detection of animals that required attention and providing appropriate solutions to the cows.

  • Carry out surgical procedures such as caesarian sections, repair of teat lacerations, teat amputations, draining abscesses, correction of displaced abomasum and other veterinary related activities

  • During this time, metabolic and infectious disease incidences also reduced to less than 2% of the herd
