- Capstone Project Proposal: Psychedelic Assisted Therapy for Narcissism; As the creator of this research project proposal, my goal was to curate an actionable research study to find a more functional approach to therapeutic intervention for narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). As of right now, there is no specialized treatment for NPD patients due to the limitations of the mental illness. This has led many psychiatrists to default to prescribing medications that treat accompanying mental illnesses, but do not directly treat the neural pathways that are associated with NPD symptoms. Recent studies on psychedelic-assisted therapy for the treatment of trauma patients have showed positive outcomes in the patients quality of life and mental well-being. This research peaked my curiosity to look into the potential for psychedelic-assisted therapy interventions for patients diagnosed with NPD.
