As the Maintenance and Breakdown Director I was responsible for overseeing all breakdowns within our fleet of 1500 pieces of equipment. With a combination of 300 trucks and 1200 trailers I ensured all equipment was DOT compliant and functioning properly to maintain on time delivery. I oversaw a crew of 9 mechanics and 1 trailer mechanic. I also handled all over the road breakdowns in a timely and cost effective manor. My duties included making sure all services and DOT where up to date on each unit and properly documented, assigned each tech repair orders based on skill level, ordered parts, created ROs for all work both internal and external to ensure proper billing, answered all incoming phone calls from drivers regarding over the road breakdowns, gave drivers direction based on codes in Samsara and knowledge of equipment, arranged towing if needed, arranged travel accommodations if needed, negotiated and approved repair orders from outside shops, approved or denied all drives request regarding maintenance to their units, managed lot checks on 9 local lots to ensure all trailers where road worthy, managed a strict budget for repairs, created and analyzed spreadsheets for fuel economy of each unit, communicated with dispatcher on each down unit in their fleet, set up rental/loaner equipment to keep drivers moving, oversaw both Corecentric and Comdata, created weekly and monthly forecasts for my department. All tasks where performed with a sense of urgency.
As the Service manager I oversaw a team of 6 mechanics and 3 service writers. Thru training and motivating I lead my team to the best in our group. My duties where to train Service writers and mechanics, assign work based on skill level of techs, forecast and maintain a budget within department, filed warranty claims, processed all customer complaints, Oversaw an average of 650 RO per month to assure profitability, set goals for each employee, maintained CSI scores to top 5 in our district.
As the Assistant Service Manager I oversaw the service lane at multiple locations. My duties included meeting with customers to discuss service needs. maintained profitability within the service drive, trained and motivated Service Advisors, answered phones and scheduled appointments, handled customer complaints, oversaw all repairs for used car department ensuring each was done in a timely manner, forecasted and maintained department budget, dispatched all work to techs based on skill level, maintained above average CSI scores.
