The Denver Deputy Sheriff is responsible for the safety of the public and offenders who are incarcerated at either the Denver Downtown Detention Center (490 West Colfax, Denver, Colorado) or the Denver County Jail (10500 Smith Road, Denver, Colorado). Denver deputies perform a variety of duties; I was assigned to the following:

• Security: Officers provided safety and security for the assigned post, facility, and transport; correctional care for offenders during their assigned shift.
• Pre-arraignment Detention Center (2001-2003)
• Court Services (2006–2008)
• Denver Health Medical Center (Correctional Care Management Facility) is a sixteen-bed medical unit for detained and adjudicated adult individuals (2003-2006).
• Accreditation Officer, Denver County Jail (2008–2012)
• Community Corrections/Work Release (Denver County Jail): 2008–2019
• Denver County Jail, 2008-2024.

Responsible for adjudicated 150 offenders in a minimum custody facility.

• Performed security checks on visitors entering the facility as well as on packages being delivered to inmates.
• Inspected cells and other areas for contraband and safety hazards.
• Used appropriate means to discipline prisoners.
• Conducted headcounts to ensure that all inmates were accounted for.
• Conducted searches on offenders returning from outside employment or work crews.

Correctional Officer in a 960-bed Close Custody Facility.

• Conducted headcounts to ensure that all inmates were accounted for.

I was responsible for the rounds and counts of all clients, as well as the safety and security of the grounds of the William Street Community Corrections Center. I provided sign-in/out for clients, conducted job checks, and performed medical checks on clients who may have ingested illegal substances. I dispensed medication for clients, and counted all medication for medical audits.

Responsible for clients sentenced by the state and county for community re-entry. I provided services such as signing in and out clients, collecting urine specimens, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. I conducted job checks and counseled individuals on any rule violations.

I was employed as a facilitator with Pioneer Human Services. Responsible for Community Corrections clients sentenced by the state, county, and federal jurisdictions. I provided safety and security, counseled clients in a residential setting, and was responsible for signing in and out clients, as well as the collection and testing of urine specimens.
