I am an award-winning reporter, winning Best Reporter for the 2021 Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards. I have been in broadcast news professionally for over 13 years. I have worked my way from the bottom up. I started out as as an Associate Producer, then Reporter/MMJ, to the position I hold now as a Morning News Anchor. I've done some Producing for shows I've Anchored when no one else was available. It's not been many, but I can step up to the plate if I need to. I have worked at WSIL all of my professional career, starting out as an intern in 2009 while still attending university. I have established myself as a newsroom leader with my loyalty, dedication to the job, respect for others, and positive attitude. I have been in most of the positions up and coming journalists will be in so I can give advice and help guide future journalists to be good, well-versed, and accurate story-tellers. I believe I have also broken boundaries while at WSIL. To my knowledge, I am the first and only black full-time Morning News Anchor in the station's over 30 year history. I am respected by my peers, the viewing public, and bosses. I also participate in a lot of community events. I recently took part in the Miss Illinois Scholarship pageant as a judge for the week-long competition.
