In my time as a Behavior Technician, I provided direct behavioral intervention services to children of all ages diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. As a BT, I learned to conduct assessments, collect data, and implement behavior plans based on assessments, as well as maintain detailed records of sessions including progress notes, logs of activities and behaviors observed, incident reports, and program updates. Frequently, I would instruct and educate clients in social skills training techniques, such as positive reinforcement, prompting, and shaping behaviors, in conjunction with collaborating with families to provide support strategies for home-based interventions. I often assisted BCBA's in curating detailed treatment plans and programs based on my observations and time with the children.
In my role as a counselor, I provide transportation for clients as needed to appointments or other activities outside the residence. I also organize recreational activities that provide entertainment for residents, but also serve as an opportunity to accomplish and complete personal goals. Supervise medication administration and prompt medication consumption when needed. I have to be able to respond to any emergency situation that may arise within the residence and perform regular room checks for cleanliness standards, as well as security purposes. Developing therapeutic relationships by providing emotional support and positive reinforcement is a huge part of my responsibility to the residents, as well as collaborating in team meetings to discuss updates on client progress and strategies for improvement with my fellow counselors.
As a secondary caretaker to a family of three children, I am responsible for the academic success outside of school. I observe and improve each child's study skills, organizational techniques, and time management strategies. I like to provide individualized lesson plans that cater to each child's unique personality and interests, as well as integrate a mix of technology and traditional methods of learning, such as the use of pen and paper, worksheets, and physical games and devices, like toys, etc. I regularly communicate with parents regarding the performance of their children and consult them on the importance of maintaining a positive home environment by setting clear expectations and rules for behavior. As a caregiver, my responsibilities are comprised of before and after-school prep, such as preparing lunch for school and after-school snacks, as well as dinner at night. I adhere to nutritional and allergenic restrictions for each child, monitor and aid with the children's morning and night routines, and maximize organization and efficiency. Additionally, I carry out housekeeping duties related to the care of the children. Lastly, maintaining and administering medications and vitamins to the children who need them.
As shift lead I was responsible for the training of new employees on my shift and monitoring employee performance and provided feedback on areas for improvement to the manager. While on the floor I maintained the store's appearance by cleaning, stocking shelves, and ensuring merchandise was always properly displayed as well as responding to customer inquiries and complaints. Frequently I handled cash register transactions in conjuction to providing customer service simultaneously, reviewing daily sales reports and monitoring financial metrics, and performing opening and closing procedures such as ressetting machines, taking inventory and handling paperwork.
During my time as the HR assistant, I assisted in the recruiting and hiring process by conducting phone screenings, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, and completing reference checks. I prepared job postings for open positions on the company website and other job boards. I also conducted exit interviews with departing employees to gather feedback about their experience with the organization. I also updated the existing employee database filing system from paper to digital. My time in this position made me proficient in time management and meeting deadlines under a heavy workload, as well as strengthening my preparation and presentation skills.
