ORDER OF THE ROCKS- The tradition originated as a 'folly' sanctioned to boost morale, and as a test for seasoned sailors to ensure their new shipmates were capable of handling long rough times at sea. The Order of the Rock celebrates a Sailor's transit through the Straights of Gibraltar.
