Throughout my time receiving education at Appalachian State University, I have been a student intern at three different elementary schools. During this time, I have gotten experience in observing students and how they learn in different classroom environments, reading to students, helping students one-on-one with class assignments and activities, and teaching detailed reading/vocabulary, math, and science lessons. I have spent a lot of time during my education in the elementary school classroom setting and through this experience have developed skills related to classroom management and effective teaching strategies. I have also had the opportunity to observe and work with students with different backgrounds and needs, which has helped prepare me to be able to differentiate lessons and cater to students based on how they learn best.
