FAITH L. CANRIGHT

Creative Writer specializing in fiction and poetry. Longing to secure an artist-in-residence position in a dramatic natural environment where I can stimulate my imagination to extend written artistic expression through continued work on my novel-in-progress.

Faith Canright grew up in Dallas, Texas. Her talented mother taught her to read at the age of four, and in first grade she tested at a fourth-grade reading level. She wrote her first short story, a mystery, when she was ten.

Faith lived in six states through her multiple careers, spending her business life as a technical writer. Eventually, she concentrated her talent and her time on poetry and fiction. Published in several anthologies, Faith now writes full time and lives in the Pacific Northwestern United States. She is currently writing a murder mystery novel.

• 2024, Encore 2024, Poetry collection from the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. Features the poem, "Florida Odyssey," which won 2nd place in the Florida Poetry Society contest.

• 2024, Making Room, Poetry zine from Gnashing Teeth Publishing about acceptance, which provides a bridge and reminds us of our shared humanity. Includes the poem, “The Same as Me.”

• 2012, A Handful of Bright, Poetry and prose anthology by writers in Portland, Oregon. Contributed the poem, “Lost.”

• 1980, American Academy of Poets, Contributed two poems, “Stranger” and “Elegy for Beth,” to this national anthology.

• 1979, American Academy of Poets, Contributed a poem to this national anthology.
